Emily first began violin lessons at the age of four. Over the course of fifteen years, she had the opportunity to receive training from many different instructors, providing her with a well-rounded appreciation for the violin. Her favorite genres are Irish and Scottish fiddle music, however she also enjoys bluegrass, classical, and traditional sacred music.
Emily was homeschooled, which gave her ample time to spend with her siblings making music. She has performed across the country with her siblings in their family bluegrass band. These valuable experiences taught Emily how to work under pressure, collaborate with others; and perform with confidence. Currently, Emily plays as part of her church’s ensemble every Sunday. Emily takes great delight in improvisation, especially with hymns. She loves to create something new out of the oldest songs.
In her free time, Emily enjoys reading, learning new fiddle songs, flying her dad’s Cessna 172, and spending time with her siblings, nieces, and nephews. Her goal is to help all of her students learn to pursue excellence, creativity, and to develop a true love of the violin.
